Thanks guys and sorry if I made a few mistakes, english is not my native language and it's nearly 5:00 am here. So, did I do something wrong ? Or is there someone willing to look at it with me? Instead of telling me it's a subroutine, it considered it was a chunk and stuff like that ! I can provide a screenshot if it doesn't make sense.

#FIRE EMBLEM FATES ROM AND FAN TRANSLATION PRO#
It's as if IDA Pro is interpreting it differently. So I guess I'm on the right track ! ( ? )įor the last try, I also noticed that the subroutine I replaced was not the same as the US one. The game booted, and crashed at the moment the opening cutscene is supposed to start.
#FIRE EMBLEM FATES ROM AND FAN TRANSLATION CODE#
Replaced the JPN subroutine with the US one by overwriting it and adding some bytes in the code to have enough space to paste it. The game booted but acted as if there was no SD card. Simply put the US code.bin instead of the JP one. Did the same thing but tried to change the pointer to the subroutine to the one I added at the end of the file. However, I noticed in IDA Pro that the shown subroutine was totally different in the JPN version compared to the US one once I added it. The game still booted, of course, since I didn't do anything to the actual code. Copy the US subroutine add the bottom of the JP code.bin with an hex editor. So, as the noob I am, I tried a few stupid things first, namely : I think I located the subroutine for reading movies in both code.bin and they're indeed quite different. ( Except Pokemon Fire Red hacks but, oh well, it's clearly not the same ) I know, it's reckless and I won't go anywhere but I don't really have a choice here. Since I'm not the type to ask others to do it in my stead and I doubt anyone will anyway, I tried to do it by myself with little to no ASM skills. code.bin of the US version of the game, locate the subroutine which allows to add soft subtitles to the cutscenes ( I already located the file needed to add them ), and add it to the. So what I wanted to do is to do some reverse engineering on the. ( well, I understand most of it but still. The problem is, as I keep the game undubbed, the cutscenes are in japanese and so, not very understandable if don't speak japanese. It's actually working but I still have a problem : cutscenes ! Soo, I'm actually trying to make a translation of Fire Emblem If ( japanese version of Fates ) by mixing the fan translation and the official one, trying to keep the good in both of them.
